Japanese in a Minute?

From time to time I like to do odd searches to see where we may pop up.  If I get enough complaints about this nonsensical waste of time, I’ll probably stop.  But here is one for today.

If you do a search for ‘learn Japanese in 1 minute’ in Google (as of 4:05 PM May 18t, 2007) our various websites (and Youtube video) grab the top three spots.  AND following an Amazon link on spot 4, we also occupy fifth place with the new Video site:

#1 - Youtube - This is for our Atsui Hot, Hot, Thick and Deep video (part of the 1 Minute Japanese series)
#2 - 1nichi1kai.com - The post announcing a cool new video called ‘Atsui Hot, Hot, Thick and Deep
#3 - TheJapanesePage.com for posts about the 1 Minute Japanese series
#4 - Amazon - skip this one
#5 -  Video.TheJapanesePage.com - for another one of our 1 Minute Japanese videos.

Obviously we tipped the scales by calling the video series ‘1 Minute Japanese’, but I wonder why ‘Atsui Hot, Hot, Thick and Deep’ was so… hot?

I have written much on TJP about how learning a language is a journey and to avoid books that promise ‘learn Japanese in an hour’.  But here I am representing 4 of the top 5 Google hits for “learn Japanese in a minute”!  Ouch.

  1. If you do a search for “learn Japanese in 1 minute” (with the double speech marks) you just get this article.

  2. We are still 1-3 and 5, but 4 was replaced by a Pimsleur site. Amazon is down on this very important search topic. 頑張れ!負けないで!
