No Internet, Know Freedom?
My internet just came back up less than two minutes ago. Previous to those two minutes I was back in the Dark Ages for nearly two hours. That’s right—my Internet was down.
It got me thinking how did people survive without the internet?! Of course I used to be one of those people, but that is beside the point.
Anyway, normally the Internet being down gives me a sense of freedom. I really can’t do any work. I can’t print orders, print postage, work on improving my sites; I can’t even blog! But I can… play Halo 3, watch 24 and play with Makoto!
But today was frustrating. Today is Friday. I take Saturday’s off. I don’t think about business, websites or even what to write here. It is a great way to be fresh for the next week. I had a number of things I wanted to accomplish today and the two hour blackout just sucked it out of me.
Oh well. At least I got a post up.
I make every Sunday and Wednesday afternoon computer free. I’s amazing what a difference is makes!
I only take time off of the computer (mostly to read or study Japanese) when it’s really stormy outside, when we have long blackouts so the UPS can’t handle them, or when it’s cleaning day and I better unplug everything before a broom takes anything down
Actually I’m taking storms more seriously now, since a couple of weeks ago sparks and a loud sound came out of my PC case at the same time I heard thunder outside the house… somehow an electricity surge went from my Xbox (it was turned off but plugged) to my PC, via Ethernet, burning both Network Cards…
I have so many problems with the internet
I am dreaming for the internet without problems…
When I don’t have anything pressing to do, having the Internet down allows me to stop doing the busy work I really don’t need to be doing anyway. But usually it happens right when I’m in the middle of something important!
I don’t know what i’m goin’ to do if there’s no internet at home. Although there are many facilities at home like playstation,television,i think it’ll be boring. Actually, i spend my time by taking some notes and reading japanese. But when my bros and sis used the computer, i said “argh”. I’ve many bros and sis. There’s just a computer at home. So,it’s kind of hard for me to take a complete note of japanese and make me know well in japanese about the culture,disciplines,languages and everything. I really took some time to do that. And it’s rain season now.T_T
The Internet truly is amazing. Whenever I take my laptop somewhere without Wifi, I’m amazed at how large a percentage of my computer time relies on the Internet.
