The singer singing now is 秋元順子 Akimoto Junko.  This is her first appearance at 紅白.  At 61, she has an amazing voice.  I will have to check her out later (note to self).

One of the joys of living in Japan is Japanese TV. And one of the joys of Japanese TV is the bakabakashii TV.  And while we were there having our daughter Megumi, I discovered a really funny act called ひげ男爵 hige danshaku (bearded aristocrat).  They were just on 紅白.
