15 ☆☆☆☆☆ Reviews in a Row for Japanese Phrases iPhone app

We’ve been rolling out updates on our main iPhone app (Japanese Phrases and Lessons) quite often over the past few months.  I think it is shaping up to be a quality product (with a lot more to come!).  Auto play, enhanced favorites, more display preference options, and more phrases are just a few of the [...]

An Outstanding Application

A great review for our flagship iPhone app: Japanese Phrases & Lessons
Fabulous
This is an outstanding application that gets better and better with each update. The new fast track grammar 100 is remarkably clear and organized in a way that makes learning a joy. This is successful where most books fail. There are now a lot [...]

Japanese Phrases and Lessons iPhone, Blackberry, Android, Windows Mobile App

Ever since the launch of our first iPhone app, Japanese Phrases, we have had requests for other platforms.  I’m happy to say, we are simultaneously working on an Android and Windows Mobile version.  Blackberry will come soon after these are completed.  It will still be about four weeks before the projects are complete, but it [...]

Release Date now only for New Releases in iTunes App Store

Well, Apple has gone and made things worse for developers I think.  In a recent post titled Apple-is-smarter-than-this-itunes-app-store-release-date-madness, I tried to summerize a few problems for developers trying to get their apps in the Released Date front page.
Up until now, both new apps and newly released updates appeared in the center screen “Release Date” section.  This [...]

How to Enable Japanese on an iPhone

This is actually pretty easy to figure out by stumbling about in the iPhone Settings, but from time to time I hear people asking.  So, here is how to turn on the Japanese keyboard and voice commands on the iPhone or iPod Touch.
1) First tap the Settings icon probably on your first screen:

2) Next tap [...]

As a request from a user, I’m adding two groups of phrases and decided to add them to TJP with the audio here:
Dojo Kun and Niju Kun
The Dojo Kun are five succinct guidelines for becoming the [...]

$5 Download for Beginners Now .99

For a limited time (meaning, Clay hasn’t decided yet!), we are discounting our popular Beginners Vocabulary Download to less than a buck! (well, ok, one penny less than a buck)
This instant gratification download has over 500 sound files and it is actually the base for our first iPhone app called Japanese Phrases and Lessons.  If [...]

Japanese Vocabulary: Family Words

I just added a new section to theJapanesePage.com’s online audio phrasebook: Family Words
A few days ago, I got an email from a user of our Japanese Phrases & Lessons iPhone app.  He was very complimentary;  I had to press him for suggestions for improvements.
His wife’s family lives in Brazil and speaks Portuguese and Japanese–no English.  [...]

Apple is Smarter than This: iTunes App Store Release Date Madness

An iPhone user with digital cash in hand hunting for the next killer app to impress his iPhone-less friends, views a category in the iTunes App Store.  He is instantly greeted by twenty apps filling up the better part of the iTunes real estate.  These are the “new releases.”

Or actually, they aren’t.
“Sort by Release Date” [...]

Japanese Phrases & Lessons for iPhone 2.0.1 is out!

Apple just approved 2.0.1 which has a few bug fixes and adds 250 or so phrases from the Grammar lessons to the Flashcard / Quiz part.

2.0.2 should be ready soon.  2.0.2 will squash a few more errors and add a whole new section to the Lessons.
