Brand new Instant Japanese Reader Download

注文の多い料理店
Chuumon no Ooi Ryouriten
The Restaurant with Many Orders
by Miyazawa Kenji

We’ve been working feverishly to get this e-book reader done before Yumi enters the hospital (tomorrow!). It took longer than I anticipated (Can you say ぎりぎり?), but it is done–and I think (read: hope) done well.
You can get a preview of the MP3 and learn [...]

いよいよ - iPhone - 日本へ

In less than 30 minutes the new iPhone 3G will begin selling in Japan. According to the news just now, Japan will be the first country to be able to grab the new iPhone today. I’m sure this is due to time differences.
Today’s post is brought to you buy the word:

Project Word - Define your Website in a Word

I just got an email from a group in England with an interesting marketing idea.  Well, I guess it builds on the One Million Dollar website idea of a few years ago, but essentially, you ‘buy’ a word, any word, and receive a link to your website.  Once you buy it, it is yours for [...]

iPopcorn - Undocumented Uses for your iPhone or iTouch

When my sister got her iPhone almost a year ago, her parents-in-law (with mere mortal cell phones) used to joke, “Can your iPhone get us a drink?” or “Make your iPhone change the channel.” or “Let’s see if your iPhone can swim.” Of course “iPhone” was said with a little sarcastic drawl.
Well, it probably [...]

憧れのKindle Just got (a little) Cheaper

No doubt the recent price drop move by Apple encouraged Amazon to lower their Kindle price, but unfortunately they didn’t lower it much.
Apple $400 -> $200 ($200 lower!)
Amazon $400 -> $359 (not as much lower!)

I am still infatuated with the idea behind Amazon’s Kindle e-book reader, but I’m not convinced dropping $40 will make people [...]

Upcoming $5 JLPT 4 kyuu Vocabulary Part II

We are working hard on the second (and final) part of our JLPT vocabulary 4 kyuu $5 download. It *should* be ready by Monday. This has been the most ambitious of our $5 downloads, but I hope one of the more useful too. We had to split the vocabulary packs into two downloads [...]

Hotmail and HTML and Wordpress

First, Gary, if you are reading this, I promise I won’t use your name below. No one will know you were the protagonist in the story.

This morning a (anonymous) friend had a question about embedding a Youtube video into his Wordpress blog. I set it up for him and gave him brief instructions [...]

Captcha Killed the Internet Star

Many websites use what’s called ‘Captcha’ to make sure those filling out comment forms or user registrations are actual humans.  It is the annoying little ‘type the obscure word you see in the scrambled picture above’ bit.
Well, we were getting quite a large number of spam bot user account attempts (The user account has to [...]

Amazon’s Kindle E-Book Reader

When I go somewhere and know there will be at least a few minutes of reading time, I like to take a few books. I really should just limit myself to a single title and ‘rough it’ with just that, but I usually like to pepper my reading time with different subjects or tastes. [...]

Gary’s Suggestion to Mr. Gates

This morning, my friend Gary and I were talking about the competition Apple’s iPhone faces with the new Google phone and others. He asked if I had heard about Microsoft’s myPhone—or perhaps spelled, miPhone.
I hadn’t heard of the miPhone, but with a little imagination here is an early concept photo:

Now if they could only get [...]
